Create an interface between enoria and WhatsApp
Eric LEFEBVRE
What is Enoria's position on this use of WhatsApp? Contrary to data confidentiality? (these are only first name, last name and telephone number).
Competitor of the SMS solution (for a fee!!).
Let's live with our times and with the desire to simplify the burden of volunteers who ensure the animation of café, chaplaincy, Frat, etc. I am therefore strongly campaigning for this interface to exist.

This is not so much technically and financially possible for the following reason:
What the official Meta API (WhatsApp Business Platform) allows
Create groups: the API exists, but 8 participants at most, including the parish number. Nor can anyone be added directly: everyone is joined by an invitation link, and the parish validates each request. In addition, you need an official Business account, verified by Meta. These numbers come from a third party publisher; I didn't double-check them in Meta's documentation. For a group of 30 children with their parents, this is not usable.
Sending a message to a list: it's possible, but cumbersome.
Each parish should have its own WhatsApp Business account, verified by Meta, and a dedicated number. Otherwise, everything goes under the name “Enoria” and the answers come to us.
Each first message must follow a template validated in advance by Meta.
You need the consent of each recipient to receive WhatsApp messages.
Each message is chargeable, depending on the country of the recipient. The figures found for France are a bit old: around $0.03 for a service message and $0.086 for a message classified as “marketing”
. A parochial letter would undoubtedly be classified as marketing, which is more expensive than an OVH SMS. The argument “free, instead of paid SMS” therefore does not hold up.
Unofficial solutions (tools that control WhatsApp Web) are contrary to Meta's conditions. The number may be blocked. To be discarded.

At least the function that would seem interesting to me would be to be able to create a WhatsApp group from an Enoria group, with the option of including close contacts for groups of children.

Good morning,
The question is really “what is the association's position on this subject?”
If we move in this direction, in my opinion, the reservations presented below will be taken into account, and we will end up with an integrated chat application, but which will not be WhatsApp, for the explanations mentioned in this thread; would that meet the expectations expressed here? I don't know, the big advantage of WhatsApp is currently its universality; for some projects they make me use Signal or Olvid, it's not easy to spread across several apps!

I am fighting for the opposite...
They are not JUST names, first names, numbers!
These are ALL your contacts, but also ALL the content of your conversations.
No, we don't have to give in to the totalitarian control of big tech

Good idea! Would it require creating a WhatsApp Business account for the parish?

That would be great but is it really possible?
